The Twilight Paranormal Group did some night investigation in Grovely wood, an area of reported wild man activity since the 1800. Whilst there the group experienced some very wildman like activity, Original Source for the full account.
Team Leaders Notes. Grovely Wood is situated on the outskirts of Wilton. With a Roman road cutting straight through the woodland and prehistoric earthworks contained within the area, Grovely also has a historic story to tell. Grovely Woods has two specific and most interesting stories associated with its area. Grovely Wood is a place that I have always wanted to investigate. I have been fascinated by these woods ever since I was a small child as people used to talk about them to each other and about the goings on there. I had only visited the woods once when I took my dog for a walk one afternoon. I was with a friend and although I did feel as if I was being watched, the feeling was not sinister. However my friend was afraid and could not wait for the walk to be over. Other people have also told me stories of their experiences down at Grovely. Recently one of my colleagues told me that she was walking through the woods with her child in a pushchair and her dog. She said that the atmosphere was so intense, she could not bear it. She also felt as if someone was watching her and she turned around and fled from the area as she felt so unsafe. Paranormal Investigator, Vikki has also had many strange and frightening experiences in Grovely wood when she was younger.
We had become quite obsessed with seeing this figure and told one of our friends nick, who decided to come with us one night. So all together off we went across the fields from my Grans house, it was about a 10-15 min walk, the night was still and clear, time around 9. We decided this time wed go in on the main entrance just like we did on the original sighting. I’l explain here that if your looking on google maps it is not the Womersley rd entrance, this is where the lorries used to go in, its a wide path across the field from Broomhill estate.
We walked down this path and as we got closer the atmosphere just sort of changed, it became more expectant, you knew something was going to happen, but you just didn’t know what! Suddenly there was a commotion of barking dogs coming from in front and to our right, they were in the garden of the house next to the main path, on the right of the path there is the boundary fence and a house with a large plot of land.
The Carter farm, once upon a time, was only 58.3 acres. Fifty-eight point three acres that the map clearly shows was/is land that stretches along as frontage property adjacent to Reynolds Road. Finding this location was a breeze. No more than 5 miles going south from downtown Madisonville one turns left off of route 411 and proceeds east on Reynolds Road for a short couple of miles. Single wide trailers pepper the road side with an occasional average foundation home placed in the mix. Cattle, horses and donkeys are seen leisurely grazing on two farms before, but close to the Carter farm. This is not a mountainous area by any stretch of the imagination, nor is it what anyone could call, with a straight face occupied by Hillbilly mountain people. This location [the Carter farm] is close to town, close to the highway and consists of a few rolling hills. It is not a mile from the mountainous park as is claimed however the distant mountains can be seen from the farm.
Once immediately passing the Carter farm two trailers [mobile homes] were found on the same side of the road. I drove up to these trailers that bordered the far east side of what is now Philpot’s land and quickly noticed dogs, dogs that were adult and puppies eagerly meeting my vehicle. Here we got out, petted and photographed a couple of these dogs. Not much further down the road another large herd of cattle was noted and around the very next bend ( no more than one half to a mile from the Carter place) we found an Emu farm. Emu’s were observed contently enjoying the pasture far from any cover or concern.
The structures of the farm (house, mobile home, barn, sheds) are located well within a few yards of the road. Janice’s old house also sets close to the road. The door that the alleged Bigfoot [Fox] knocked on requesting garlic is no further than a half of football field from the roads edge. Reynolds Road is newly blacktopped, narrow and curves directly in front of 507, Janice’s old place — local traffic flies around this curve. At night the eastbound traffic’s headlights cannot help but scan across the entire front of the house as they negotiate the turn. Next to the Carter farm property, literally within feet and west of 507 Reynolds Road, approximately a dozen young calves were seen lazing about. The calves were border only by a weak barbed wire fence and drying creek bed. Full Article Here.
A MYSTERIOUS wolf-like creature has been found leaving wildlife experts baffled as to what it is. The animal has been sent to a lab for DNA tests as conspiracy theories around it being a werewolf or Bigfoot are shared. Speculation about the canine suggest it could be a wolfdog or even related to Bigfoot as well as liking it to the mythical creature dogman. Experts say there is something “not right” and doubt that it’s not a wolf because its teeth are too short, paws are abnormally small and claws too large.
Gloucestershire boasts some pretty unique wildlife from feral pigs to mysterious sightings of ‘large black cats,’ but now it looks like another creature is living among us. Wolves have been apparently spotted living in the Forest of Dean and wildlife explorer Frank Tunbridge is investigating.
Over the years he has been called out to numerous reports of big cat sightings but most recently he has been asked to help find wolves which are apparently living in the Forest of Dean, just outside Coleford. One day Frank had a call from a man who said that he had seen wolves out and about whilst he had been walking his Jack Russell dog. Frank said: “So I have been called to reports of wolves now living around Coleford. I met with a chap that had seen one and also his work colleague on a different day had also seen a wolf as well. “He was describing to me how he had been out walking his dog and all of a sudden a wolf had appeared on the track in front of him. I wanted to be sure that he had not confused a wolf with a husky dog so I sent him a picture.
