“I live in a small town in Devon (UK) just south of Dartmoor and there have been many sightings of what appear to be werewolves in the fields near here and up onto the moors themselves. The most known sighting was in 1996 and was by Emily Watton. She was walking here two dogs; a collie and a labrador/springer spaniel cross, on the moors in early October when the dogs started going crazy. Then both, at the same instant, turned around and started trying to run in the opposite direction Emily was headed. Emily kept hold of the leads and while trying to turn the dogs around, she saw a huge creature “about 7 or 8 feet tall” running towards her. It was “wolf-like but the forelegs were much longer and the chest much deeper. It was covered in fine black, grey and brown fur and hair brilliantly yellow eyes.” The snout was longer than either of her dogs’ and she could see fangs when the creature opened its mouth. She started to run but the creature was, in her estimation, at least 4 times as fast as she was. When the creature got about 20 feet from her, the dogs suddenly turned and started barking at it. Emily kept running but as she looked over her shoulder, she saw the creature stand up on its hind legs, grab the two dogs, then throw the collie into a rock and rip out her labrador/spaniel’s throat”
When she got back to town and told her husband what had happened she was taken to hospital. I’m not sure what happened to her after that but what i was told is that she died of shock that night………
Hello, A little background about myself before I get into my story, my name is Shylah, and I am a 23 Year old guy and from the West Midlands of England in the UK. Now, I don’t live far from a place called Cannock Chase, which is where my encounter took place.
It happened when I was 19 years of age. I had just completed a new album and, at that age and with any excuse, me and my friends, Peggy, Rosalind, my boyfriend James & his friends Francis & Aymon, took the opportunity to have a little private celebration in the Chase.
We went to our local Off-licence, bought some booze, and off we went for an all-nighter in the woods, as is the norm for teens.
We got to our usual spot around 10 pm and started drinking. About an hour had passed, we were getting tipsy and having a good time, playing my new tunes from James’s Bluetooth speaker, when all of a sudden Peggy screamed… I was shocked and asked: “What the bloody hell is wrong with you?!”
She said: “I swear I have just seen a bear by that log!”
I was contacted by a gentleman on youtube who after hearing one of the video accounts from a witness on the Medway kindly shared his encounter with something strange whilst out on his mountain bike, as regular readers will know, mountain bikers and the mountain bike trails are a great source for witness accounts.
G: Well Deb this is the strange encounter I had in the woods late at night on a solo mountain bike ride in the winter. I will try and make sense of what happened but im not very good at putting things down on paper and its not the easiest thing to explain.. Im pretty sure this was back in 2011 as I was around 18 when it happened. It was definitely during Winter as the woods were bare of shrub and leaves and the muddy/clay ground was a nightmare to ride on . I used to be a very keen extreme mountain biker and I would go out with a group and also solo, My favourite time was the night rides during the winter months at which time I would usually have a lot of fun, but not this night.
The fearsome wolves of Yorkshire: Inside the mysterious Wold Newton Triangle
The Yorkshire Wolds may be home to rolling green hills, hidden valleys and ancient villages, but this seemingly peaceful stretch of Yorkshire is harbouring a much darker side behind its picture perfect appearance.
Describe Your Encounter: “I am guessing as to the date since it has been almost 1 year since this sighting. It was a Sunday night and there was a full or nearly full moon with a few clouds and very mild temperature. I am certain of the time of the sighting since I normally walk my dog no later than 9:00pm, but I was late on this particular night because I had been watching a show on TV and was late getting out with her. This was an unusual location to see something like this because I live in a nice, older neighborhood, but it is within a mile of wide open country. I follow the same route walking my dog every evening and I was almost back to my house when I stopped because I saw 2 very large black, hairy things coming down the driveway of the house across the street from my house.
Interpretation of the Waddy Werewolf by Terry Thomas
A short impromptu tour around the areas of Staxton and Flixton Wold in North Yorkshire – including a walk with a witness on location.
For over 900 years this area has been known for reports of a strange creature known locally as the Flixton Werewolf or the Flixton Beast.
I don’t ask that you believe such a creature could exist. Enough people have reported their own encounters, which suggests that ‘something’ is manifesting around this area….for more information on sightings of the creature and many other local.
John Knifton’s Blog reported: In three previous blog posts, I discussed “Shuck”, the huge phantom black dog, who for centuries has roamed, for the most part, the fields, fens and even beaches of East Anglia. I showed, though, that the cryptic canid has also walked on occasion in Nottinghamshire, visiting churchyards and graveyards. He frequents ancient tracks and pathways and, in particular, a lonely footpath down by the River Trent in Beckingham. He has been seen in isolated Crow Lane in South Muskham and, in recent times, on a pitch black Blyth Road, near Hodsock Priory.
These are hairy bipeds with canid features who, like Black Shuck, seem to occur “near freshwater; on hills; at boundary areas such as roads; and on or near burial grounds, and military zones, and all types of sacred areas around the world”: These are the words of Linda S Godfrey in her wonderful book, “Real Wolfmen: True Encounters in Modern America”: Full Article.
As most of you know we have a gentleman here in the UK who is doing some outstanding work collecting data in the field and interviewing witnesses to the canine creatures reported here in the UK and Worldwide. Mike has been visiting a number of areas in England and Wales and collecting and photographing any finds he has. In the image below there does seem to be a strange canine creature low down to the floor, in the centre of the image. What do you think?
We have been able to put Mikes research together in a Playlist of Journals on YouTube. In recent months Mike has some interesting anomalies turn up when he views his images at home. Now nobody is making any claims here, we would simply like some help and people opinions on the images and any offers of analysing them would be very welcome
The image above has a dark “figure” central to the picture. Much darker than the shadows and trees around it. Here is another shot of an anomaly taken by Mike.
If you are interested in the dog man subject, and would like to meet up with Mike or other researchers just let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can pass on your details to them.
A Number of accounts taken from the British Bigfoot sightings map which can be found here. MAP OF UK ACCOUNTS
Another update from Mike out in the field. Mike has been searching for evidence of any kind, he looks for prints, contacts locals and ask if any strange or unknown creatures have been seen in the area, he asks farmers about missing stock or strange animals around. He is visiting woods all across the UK and he also takes accounts from people who have had strange canid sightings of their own.
Area- Sirhowy Forest, near Crosskeys Wales
Weather- Clear, dry with scattered cloud cover
Start time- 11.00 hrs – 13.00 hrs
Today’s visit will be to Sirhowy Forest near Crosskeys in Wales. I left Reading at around 09.15 am and arrived in Crosskeys at 10.45 am. I started walking up the road towards Sirhowy Forest at 10.50 am and after a good 5 minutes I reached the first Public Footpath that leads into the Forest, which led me up a 70 meter or more incline to the top of a very steep slope.
When I reached the top I sat down for a cup of coffee and some sandwiches, on a tree stump and after about 15 to 20 minutes the Birds stopped singing and sure enough the whole area went quiet, at this point I had a strong urge to keep looking to my right, and this was when I heard a very deep throated growl that came from my left, which had me turning left quickly and almost jumping with fright trying to see where the growl had come from.
