Growing up in in the UK you get used to tales of the wee folk, the trolls and pixies, the Fae and in Lancashire we have the Boggart, often described as small and hairy and a horrible appearance, blamed for many a missing horse blanket or milk from a step. Here are some of the tales of the wee folk I have come across whist researching our forest friends.
See earlier Post: Days had gone past since our first encounter. We discussed at great length what it could have been. Normally you would have a rational explanation but we just couldn’t explain it. Now come on, just how do you climb up a sheer vertical rock face of 30 ft in 3 seconds or less in the dark? We decided to go back in the dark. Not late this time, and we had something for protection.
My gran, who is sadly no longer with us, used to live on Broomhill estate, Knottingley. About half a mile north of Niners. So it was a good place to meet, Lee and myself got ready at her house. We were going prepared this time.
I had a BSA meteor air rifle on which I had ‘under slung’ a powerful 3d cell torch. Not exactly a 12 gauge but it felt good to have it as we climbed over my grans back garden wall and headed for Niners once again. The night was still and quiet as we walked across the fields.
YD: Deborah. I came across your website whilst searching for some help. I want to report something I saw on new years day this year while I was walking my dog. I know you usually take reports of Bigfoot’s and Yetis but I don’t know how else to explain the “things” that I have saw or who to go too to report it. I guess you could call them Little Foots. Because I saw something in the woods that wasn’t large, but they were short. Two little small and hairy human type figures.
I regularly take my dog walking in some woods near the village of New Marke. These woods are called Errington Woods. Well on New Years day I was on my usual walk with the dogs when I heard these chattering noises, it sounded like two men muttering. and it sounded to me almost ape like. I looked into the trees where the direction of the sounds were coming from and I came across these two creatures both stood near a felled tree. They were about 3 feet tall and covered in tawny coloured hair. They were both males and I saw anatomy on one. They looked like small primitive humans and one was wearing what I can only assume was a loin cloth. They each had a mane of hair down their necks. They were very muscular and I got the impression that they were not children or young, that they were fully grown. They were just two little men covered with golden tawny hair.
West Midlands, UK.There is a pub in Smethwick, just outside Birmingham, in the West Midlands, England, called the Blue Gate and late one night a gentleman was driving a pony and trap on Rolfe Street, Smethwick, he was riding along thinking of home, when he heard some strange noises coming from behind him.
I received a report over the weekend from a number of witnesses to the same “figure” during a journey back to Manchester from North Yorkshire, luckily one of the ladies on the Journey Kay knows of me and my interest in any unknown creatures or figures here in the UK, so she felt OK speaking with me about it.
The ladies were travelling in two vehicles in convoy. They must of taken a wrong turn on an unfamiliar road and sadly one of the cars needed petrol so they proceeded to search for a garage that could help. After finding a garage they set off again only for the lead car to suffer a blow out!! It seems fate was playing a hand for it was in that moment on a dark country road one of the ladies in the back said “can you see him” as she pointed at a dark running human figure on the hillside, a second lady along on the outing replied “that she could, and that it was a running man”
Weather- Light rain, overcast but with good visibility
Search time, 11.25 to 12.35 hours. Nothing much to report back on today, very much a no show, no sign of anything out or moving around, I think it is still worth making a note of today as in future years I may see a seasonal or monthly pattern emerge, but the M.I.B with the Mercedes Estate was back again. No contact between him or I but his absence was noted and once again just an empty car.
I will continue to visit and note any changes and in the hopes of finding out who this chap is. Any advise on possible ways of doing this would be very welcome, Deborah has my email and can send it over if you would prefer to speak in private.
A man in England was surprised by a monkey-like animal he says came out of the woods in the county of Suffolk. Bury St Edmunds resident Geoff Knights says he was looking for “big cat signs” in the Offton woods, near Stowmarket, when the creature showed up on Aug. 14. “I have seen one big cat and several pug marks (name used for animal footprints) too,” Reportedly, he began hearing primate vocalisations and “crashing” sounds coming from the thick vegetation. “I heard it as clear as day. A monkey going woow woow. over and over Then I turned and saw it.”
(read parts 1-3 in earlier article) All the while Patch is cowering in the back, not making any noise but shaking in fear, we were all spooked but i had to find out what was going on, we had been trying work all this out for months now, the figure in the road, the invisible running footsteps, weird human shaped dark figures, and the dog’s continuous fear. I was determined to go back and look. I turned around once more and parked at the beginning of the prints. Everyone got out with me. Jon was looking at the prints and Rob was keeping watch, scanning everywhere just in case this “creature” came back. I’m reluctant to give a description on the shape and size of print as its been a long time and i cannot remember with full detail. Mobile phones with cameras were available at this time but i didn’t have one neither did Jon or Rob.
(see earlier post for parts 1 and 2) The encounters at Paull seemed to be intensifying as if this thing was ‘testing’ us. Seeing how far it could go. This particular night we had lots of snow in Hull and the Paull area. By the time we got to our spot down Newlands lane the snow was a couple inches deep at least but it had stopped. My memory is hazy but i believe it was either late 02 or very early 03. Our routine and sightings of ‘it’ had taken over the pool games. Now we didn’t go out for pool as such but more to experience this…whatever it was. Driving down the lane turning round and then pulling over in the passing place on the left had become routine although the snow bound road and countryside gave a different dimension to things. The most obvious being everything was much ‘brighter’ It was cold and very quiet as I let Patch back in the boot. We sat in the car, windows half down having our smokes talking in low voices. Watching the bend in the road ahead carefully, ears pricked for any noise..nothing?? There was no unusual activity.
