Hamsterly Forest is a large forested area in the North East of England around 2000 hectares of mixed scenic woodland lying between the Wear and Tees valleys on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Fed by a number of Rivers Hamsterley is a delightful oasis of broadleaved and coniferous woodland, sprawling along the sides of a sheltered valley. It seems the vast forest is home to more than just the usual wild life.

Until Next Time, Deborah
Witness statement Emma Adam: I want to report something that happened to me and my sister a few years ago now back in 2013. We still don’t know to this day what we saw, I dont have a name for it and nothing on Google is matching up with it, someone said it could be red deer as they will stand on two feet but this was no deer. We were driving along Limby Hall lane in Swannington in Leicestershire this is just past the Grace Dieu Priory area and we decided on this route as it was new for us and we wanted to walk the dogs somewhere different for a change, my sister lived in Eastwood Nottingham at the time so she came over and slept the night at mine in Whitwick. We were out on the lane and it was getting darkish but there was still plenty enough light to walk our two dogs, I would say it was roughly around Feb and about 10/11 pm time. My sister was the driver and I was the passenger and our dogs were in the back.
It has become almost an accepted phenomenon right across North America – but now a man has reported that he saw a Bigfoot-like creature walking in a field just ten miles from Bristol. The eye-witness said he was on a train from Exeter to Bristol Temple Meads, which was approaching the city on a bright Friday morning in November last year, when he saw a massive creature taking huge strides along a hedgerow. The report was made to the British Bigfoot Sightings group – a team of researchers based around the country who collect and investigate sightings of upright hairy ape-like creatures in this country.
Werewolf Journal, part 12
Area- Sirhowy Forest, near Crosskeys Wales
Weather- Clear, dry with scattered cloud cover
Start time- 11.00 hrs – 13.00 hrs
Today’s visit will be to Sirhowy Forest near Crosskeys in Wales. I left Reading at around 09.15 am and arrived in Crosskeys at 10.45 am. I started walking up the road towards Sirhowy Forest at 10.50 am and after a good 5 minutes I reached the first Public Footpath that leads into the Forest, which led me up a 70 meter or more incline to the top of a very steep slope.
When I reached the top I sat down for a cup of coffee and some sandwiches after I sat down on a tree stump, after about 15 to 20 minutes the Birds stopped singing and sure enough the whole area was quiet, at this point I had a strong urge to keep looking to my right, and this was when I heard a very deep throated growl that came from my left, which had me turning left and almost jumping with fright trying to see where the growl had come from.
I repeated to myself the mantra of ‘I’m only here to look, observe and research I’m not here to hurt or steal any food’. I kept looking in the direction of the growl and I think I saw the side of a canine looking head peering around a tree looking at me, but I couldn’t be sure, I took some photos (Alas it seems this creature was not captured in the photo).
I left behind a ham sandwich and a sausage roll as a peace offering, just in case! and decided to move on along the footpath where my Wife and I had been earlier in the year back in February. After some time I reached an area which had some fallen trees arranged in a large rectangular enclosure of sorts, the trees had been placed end to end with an opening for something of which I was not sure to enter? Moving further along I came to the end of this stretch of the Forest where it was divided by a wire fence, but something had decided to push at least 4 trees over thus flattening and destroying the fence allowing easy passage in between the next section of the Forest and the one section I was standing in.
After walking around this area for several minutes I decided to call it a day and walk back to the car.
PS: Before I stared out, I did my usual mantra of ‘I’m not here to harm or hurt or take your food etc’ I’ve recently started a new mantra of ‘I’m here and I come in friendship so if you want to find me, come along’. Now give it 15 to 20 minutes it seems to me they will come along and find you, how and why they can do this, I have no idea.
Area- Hampstead Norreys Wood
Weather- Dry but overcast
Start- 12.10hrs – 13.05hrs
Today I decided to search a new area of a stretch of woods that runs parallel with the M4 Motorway. This area is called Hampstead Norreys Wood (Not the actual Village of the same name), I’d seen a structure of sorts when I drove back from south Wales about a week ago along the M4, so I thought I’d make that point of interest and go and have a look.
It took me about 50 minutes to find the wood and a place to park, I got set up and went off on my walk. I walked into the wood and almost straight away I noticed this location was a place of some sort of activity, not sure which type of Cryptid had made the signs, but it had bent over trees, den like structures and something I’d never seen before, trees placed on the ground at angles to each other or placed alongside each other either with ferns growing over the tree trunks or actually placed on top literally covering the whole area, this happened in at least two locations in the wood , but I’m not sure if this is natural or deliberate? This kind of feature actually stood out and something that impressed me!
Start- 13.52hrs – 14.50hrs
After spending nearly an hour in Hampstead Norreys Wood I drove over to Nuney Green and decided to search an area I had not been to since December 2016, here I actually got a photo of what to me looks like a Werewolf sticking a part of its head out at the top of a tree, this thing was inside a den back in 2016. Anyway when I got there the same den was still very much intact and looked as though it was still in use, I also found a new structure as well (I took some photos of this item) But the big find of the day was some prints that were about a size 14, I’m a size 11, the prints had a stride of about 46 inches, and a big pile of natural waste. The prints looked fresh but I looked around hoping to get a look of the creature that made them, alas I couldn’t see or find the culprit in question. Overall it was a good day, it seems like my furry friends are back but are more elusive than ever.
Myself along with Chris Turner, Darren Howe, and Rob Leigh visited the areas of the Sightings and a number of Forested Areas along the River Tay, Before travelling North to visit Isabella at her habituation site. It was a very long drive North but worth every hour just to see not only Isabella and thank her for sharing her wonderful Journals with me, but also to see the site and to walk where our Forest Friends have walked. There are not words to describe how beautiful this area was, and how easy it would be to hide away unseen in any number of thick forested areas, streams, brooks and burns abound with multiple food sources and wildlife. Travelling South back to our base camp we visited a number of the woodlands to see how diverse they were and we were not disappointed. There were many Hares running the roads and lanes, along with Deer and Pheasant, Grouse, Geese, Boar, Squirrels and Pine Martens to name just a few, along with well stocked Rivers and Lochs, High Mountain ranges and rich deep Valleys it is no wonder this area is one of the oldest areas in the UK to have Lore and written accounts of our Wild Folk. We continued South along the Green Corridor in to the Lake District and the sighting areas there.
I was contacted by a gentleman who asked me if I had any accounts in the Springwell Area as something happened when he was younger that up until now he had no explanation for, a hairy gorilla like creature in an English garden is not something this gentleman thought other people had seen too, I advised him there are many witnesses and I would happily share his account in the hopes somebody in the area saw something similar, before this event or after. Or anyone in the UK who has seen a similar type of creature. This is the Gentleman’s account in his own words: Deborah do you have any accounts in the Springwell Area in the North East? The reason I ask is when I was younger around 12 or 13 I would sleep over at my grandparents a lot during the weekends and school holidays and one night when I was staying over I saw what looked like a gorillas head peeking out from behind a tree and looking through the trees out side my window, I think it was watching me in bed and I remember being so scared I hid under the covers for the rest of the night. If I had to describe it I would say, The face kind of just looked like a gorilla, with not much hair on the face, this “thing” had a short stubby nose, massive eyes that looked black but it was dark so I’m not sure if there was any colour to them in a different light? The hair around the face and head looked dark brown/black. I only really seen the head peeping round the tree… Before I made sense of what was happening and hid. I used to spend every free moment at me grandparents home in Springwell village, Washington NE before this happened.
Hoping you’re well
I believe we share a couple of common denominators.
One is Dominic Campion who is a long time great friend and the other being the extraordinary and fascinating interest in the hairy man, Woodwose, Bigfoot etc.
I’m not one for shooting my mouth off, or to exploit or take advantage of a situation or even abuse artistic licence that no doubt we’ve both and many more have witnessed and seen over the years. But now after approx 6 years I think I’m confident enough to share my experience or should I say experiences without being judged or ridiculed which is the main reason I’ve kept quiet for so long. It was only by chance that I actually opened up to Dominic in the first place. This only came about after Dom had in April 2017 posted trail cam footage of a deer close to his home on Facebook. I left a comment referring to him searching for Sasquatch in that area and the rest is history as they say. To find out that one of my best mates was and is into the whole concept of the existence a large bipedal hominid roaming our earth was a major relief to me. I’ve always believed ever since watching the famous Patterson Gimlin footage way back when. But to actually think of the possibility of ‘some…..thing’ living on our shores is mind blowing and never ever really crossed my mind until my two encounters.
The Sun Reported Dog walker tells of close encounter with hairy Apeman who ran past her deep in the woods. A woman out walking her dog in an area used by many dog walker’s and hikers told a local newspaper how she came face-to-face with a hairy upright Apeman on the Sussex Downs. Caroline Toms, 34, took this grainy photo of a huge Bigfoot she claims ran past her in the woods. She was confronted by the terrifying beast — covered head-to-toe in thick black fur and crouching upright like a man — as she walked her border collie Ash. The description fits the describe of the British Bigfoot given by hundreds of witnesses over the years, said to be elusive and wild there are many theories as to what is behind these sightings, Ms Toms said the creature she saw resembled the American Bigfoot creature.
A researcher and filmmaker Chris Turner Youtube Channel, who whilst busy with his new film Elusive, a documentary on the British Bigfoot, was contacted by a fellow Youtuber who had some experiences he wanted to share, Chris then kindly passed them over to me here at British Bigfoot. The young man in question is making no claims here, he is merely sharing some strange experiences whilst out wild camping with friends that have happened to him and others over the years.
Witness Statement: My first experience with what has become known as the North East Derbyshire Moorland Beast was in the August of 1984. I was bivouac camping with my cousin at a place called Blackamoor, Totley just outside Sheffield. I was about 14 and I was visiting family in the school holidays. We had set up the tents and a camp, and it had been a fun day and as evening drew in we called it a night. I got into the tent at around 11 pm and we both decided to try get some sleep.
